On Thursday, May 10, 2018, Anbaric’s CEO Dr. Edward Krapels was invited to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy on “the State of Electric Transmission Infrastructure: Investment, Planning, Construction, and Alternatives.” The hearing was called to review the activities of the electric transmission sector, including challenges associated with the planning and construction of new transmission lines, the effect of existing federal laws and regulations, and the consideration of non-transmission alternatives and technologies.
- In the opening statement of his testimony, Ed discussed how Anbaric’s proposed OceanGrid projects could be the key to successful offshore transmission planning (21:05-26:08).
- During the Q&A, Ed fielded questions regarding the Texas Competitive Renewable Energy Zones (CREZ) model and whether it is something that can be done elsewhere. (46:25-49:38)
- Ed also highlighted additional OceanGrid collector station proposals, outside of the New York and New Jersey area, including the West Coast (1:03:15-1:04:57)
